The Central Investigative Division is commanded by a Captain of Police assisted by two Lieutenants.

The Bureau is divided into Crimes Against Persons Unit, Property Crimes Unit, Stolen Vehicle, White Collar Crimes, Special Victim Unit, Special Investigations Unit to include Narcotics and Vice, Field Intelligence Unit, Crime Analysis Unit, Crime Intelligence Unit and Forensic Services.

These investigations are the most serious or complex crimes.  These types of crimes often require a team approach with several investigators working together or with outside agencies to successfully solve and apprehend offenders.  Each Unit is staffed with specialists on the investigation of crimes specific to the Unit.
